The geographer

Programming level 1

Moving but not yet programmed structure

P1

How to build

The robot

  • We build a gear mechanism driven by a DC motor connected directly to a single battery holder.
  • The arms of the geographer and the Little Prince can also be moved using axles
  • The gears are decorated with elements symbolizing planets, water, and plants
  • The structure starts when the battery holder is turned on and stops when it is turned off

Static figures

Programming level 2

Action indicated by LED

P2

How to build

The robots

  • There is 1 LED in the planet built above the figure. The figure is placed on a base plate, which is driven from below by a DC motor that is built horizontally into the robot
  • The robot starts automatically when the battery holder is turned on and stops after 3 seconds.

Displaying accelerated movement

P3

How to build

The robots

  • The robot’s structure is similar to P2, but with the addition of one infrared sensor.
  • The robot starts automatically when the battery holder is turned on, then stops after 3 seconds.
  • As the figure passes in front of the infrared sensor, the built-in DC motor rotates faster and faster

P3

Programming level 4

Robot activated by infrared sensor

P4

How to build

The robots

  • The robot’s structure is similar to that of P3, but with the addition of one infrared sensor
  • When the Little Prince stands in front of the infrared sensor, the robot’s program runs similarly to that in P3
